On October 9, 2013 the halls of the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich were opened for participants of the International scientific and public conference “Problems of Russian Cosmism”. Scientists and public activists from Russia and abroad took part in the forum.

Tsiolkovsky, Russian Philosophical Society, Institute for the History of Science and Technology named after S.I. Vavilov, Russian Academy of Sciences, International League for the Protection of Culture, Charitable Foundation named after Helena Roerich, Master-Bank, with the support of the Information Centre UNO in Moscow, “Culture and Time” magazine, TH “Biblio-Globus”, “The New Newspaper”.
Prof. Alexey V. Postnikov, President of the International Centre of the Roerichs, Academician of the International Academy of the History of Science (Paris), Honoured Scientist of Russia, Doctor of Sciences, addressed the participants of the event with greetings. He expressed his expectations that the conference would expose the most topical aspects in the field of Russian Cosmism research.
Dr. Alexander P. Losyukov, President of the International Roerich Heritage Preservation Committee, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, noted that the phenomenon of Cosmism served as a messenger of the New Era which put the mankind on the new stage of its development. He emphasized that Helena and Nicholas Roerichs hold a special place among Russian cosmists and their ideas connected with protection of Culture were getting more and more popular in the modern world as a counterbalance to spiritual impoverishment.

Numerous greetings addressed to the Conference were received. Some of them were read out by the members of the organizing committee:

Its staff do a lot to study philosophy of cosmism, especially those ideas which were included in the Roerichs' world perception. Working part of the conference started with the report by L.V. Shaposhnikova, First vice-president of the ICR, Director General of the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich. She congratulated the participants with the 139th anniversary of Nicholas Roerich and spoke on the joyful event for the Museum coworkers and friends – purchase of a new painting “Message of Shambala” for its collection. The painting was a part of G. Roerich collection. In her report “Cosmism of Silver Age of Russia” Ms Shaposhnikova reminded about the main cosmic law - “The Higher leads the lower on the way of cosmic evolution” - and illustrated it on the example of seven outstanding persons whom she called “cultural heroes”. They were philosophers, creators, high-educated persons of independent way of thinking – V.S. Solovyev, A.N. Scryabin, M.K. Churlionis, K.E Tsiolcovsky, A.L. Tchizhevsky, E.I. Roerich and N.K. Roerich.
The morning and evening sessions were continued with the reports of well-known scientists and experts working in the field of the philosophy of Russian cosmism.
