Paintings by the Students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children of the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar, Exhibited on India’s Republic Day in St. Petersburg.
In the evening of January 25, 2019, on the eve of India’s 70th Republic Day, a gala event was organized by the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg in Grand Hotel Emerald, St. Petersburg.
The festivities were attended by Mr. Deepak Miglani, Consul General of India in St. Petersburg, and other esteemed guests representing the St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region administration, and the eminent culture, science and business figures.
On display in the hotel lobby were the works by the winners of the creative contests held under the International project ‘The Colour and Sound of Roerich’s Realm.’ The exhibition included the paintings by the children from Leningrad Region as well as the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar, Distt. Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India.
Since four years, with the support of the Russian Curator of the IRMT Mrs. Larisa Surgina deputed by the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow, and the Indian Curator Mr. Ramesh Chander, the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children have been taking part in the International painting competition ‘The Colour and Sound of Roerich’s Realm.’ The paintings displayed on that day won certificates and prizes at the 2018 edition of the competition.
In his speech delivered on the festive occasion, the Consul General of the Republic of India in St. Petersburg highly appreciated the contribution of various organizations, including the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow, and its St. Petersburg chapter, to the strengthening of India-Russia cultural relations.
