«India by My Eyes» Contest winners (2nd and 3rd prizes), St.Petersburg and Leningrad Region, were awarded with prizes on December, 13th, 2013 in the Children Library of History and Culture of St.Petersbrug (Marata, 72).
In 2012 – 2013 «India by My Eyes» Contest took place in St.Petersburg, Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov, Vologda, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk Regions, Karelia and Komi Republics. The Contest was in two nominations: a drawing and an essay; and in two age groups: 11-13 and 14-17 years of age.
The Contest participants were children from comprehensive general schools, artistic schools and schools of art from the Northern-Western Region of Russia.
The Contest principal aim was to attract the children’s attention to studying of history, culture and nature of India and to develop and strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between children of two countries – India and Russia.
The Contest organizers were the Consulate General of India in St.Petersburg and St.Petersburg Branch of the International Center of the Roerichs.
The Contest Sponsors were the companies: ANS Corporation, You-Mix, Trade House Britania, Indexpo, Stony Island, Akeso Pharmaceuticals, Jai Hind and Tandoori Nights restaurants.
The ceremony of rewarding was opened by the chairman of the St.Petersburg Branch of the International Center of the Roerichs E.A.Tomsha. He congratulated the winners and noted that all contest participants would get certificates of participation.
The Consul-General of the General Consulate of India in St. Petersburg Mr.Vishvas Sapkal heartedly greeted the winners for their beautiful works and thanked all the participants. Mr. Vishvas Sapkal noted the high level of artictic and literature knowledge of the contest participants and stressed that this will help friendship and cooperation between India and Russia. Mr.Vishvas Sapkal introduced the «India by My Eyes» catalogue (in English and Russian) with beautiful drawings and essays of the contest winners.
Mr.Vishvas Sapkal also thanked the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Center of the Roerichs and its chairman E.A.Tomsha for the Contest organization.
Vasyukova Mira Lvovna, head of the Children Library of the History and Culture of St.Petersburg greeted the public and said that such projects develop children’s view of the world and strengthen their knowledge activity.
The Consul-General of the General Consulate of India in St. Petersburg Mr.Vishvas Sapkal awarded Mira Lvovna with a certificate and a valuable prize and thanked for her help in organizing one of the stages of the Contest.
Mr.Vishvas Sapkal awarded the winners and all the participants with certificates, valuable prizes and the «India by My Eyes» catalogues.
