International scientific and public conference “The Problems of Russian Cosmism” will be held at the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow on October 8-11, 2013.
At the late 19th - early 20th century Russian Cosmism had strong influence on science and philosophy, art and literature. Its representatives introduced new ideas on human beings and their multidimensional connections with the Universe, enriched science with evidence of integrity between earthly processes and cosmic rhythms, developed the theory of animated cosmic matter, discussed the necessity of scientific methodology renovation, etc. Cosmism looks at the Universe as an integral system of components, including human beings, which are in continuous interaction between each other. It is important that Cosmism promotes development of fundamental science and appearing of new scientific branches.
Cosmism is a new way of thinking which is nowadays widely adopted in science, philosophy, and art. A new scientific concept of the Universe is forming and natural disciplines are merging with the humanities under its influence. A new system of cognition with ethics as its integral part is one of the main peculiarities of cosmic thinking. The philosophy of Living Ethics, developed by Helena Roerich, contains the basic ideas of the new theory of cognition and its methodology. It plays the most important role in the process of cosmic thinking development.
