On October 2, 2017, the 148 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated around the world. On this day in the Stieglitz Academy Museum the opening of the international festival "Days of Indian Culture in the Academy of Stieglitz " was held; the festival was dedicated to the 148th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The organizers of the event were The St.Petersburg State A.L. Stieglitz Academy, the Consulate General of India in St.Petersburg and St.Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs.
At the opening ceremony of the International festival were: Pankaj Saran, the Embassador of India in RF, Kumar Sharma, Consul General of India in St.Petersburg, A.N.Kislitsyna, vice-rector of the Shtiglits Academy, Eduard Tomsha, the chairman of the St.Petersburg Branch of the ICR, A.L Talashchyuk, Shtiglits Academy Applied Art Museum director, L.I.Kirsanova, the Academy curator of creative projects with India.
The grand opening of two exhibitions took place in the Academy: “Mahatma Gandhi – a great soul of India” in the White Hall, the exhibition was made by the St.Petersburg Branch of the ICR; and “Beyond Three Seas” exhibition of creative works of the Academy teachers after their visits to India during 2010-2017.
