"R. Tagore – Indian Сulture Messenger" Exhibition was donated to Rabindranath Tagore School in St.Petersburg, Russia

"R. Tagore – Indian Сulture Messenger" Exhibition of the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs was donated to the Rabindranath Tagore School in Saint-Petersburg to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and India and the 60th anniversary of the Rabindranath Tagore School, St. Petersburg, January, 31st, 2018.

At the event Eduard Tomsha, the Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs, told that the exhibition is dedicated  to Rabindranath Tagore, one of the outstanding enlighteners and humanists of the twentieth century, the Nobel prize winner, a world famous Indian poet, writer, playwright, philosopher, composer, artist and a prominent international public figure. The exhibition contains photographs and documents about Rabindranath Tagore’s life and creative works, as well as several rare prints of his paintings.

The "R. Tagore – Indian Сulture Messenger" exhibition was opened in the R. Tagore School in October, 2017, the jubilee year for the School, during the celebration days of the 70th anniversary of the Russian- Indian diplomatic relations. The event was inaugurated by the Consul General of India in St.Petersburg, Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma and Mrs. Sharma, by St. Petersburg Committee on Education, St. Petersburg City Government and Kalininsky Region administration representatives, by scientists and culture public figures.

Closing the event on January, 30, 2018, Eduard Tomsha said that the "R. Tagore – Indian Сulture Messenger" exhibition had been made by the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs in coordination with the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg.
Eduard Tomsha  is confident that the exhibition photographs and documents will help schoolchildren to know and understand  diversity of the creative heritage of the great son of India.

The R. Tagore School headteacher Elena Shubina  thanked Eduard Tomsha for the precious gift which is mostly important for the school and its students. The St. Petersburg school No. 653 got R.Tagore’s name 3 years ago. Since January, 30th, 2018, the R. Tagore exhibition  will be exhibited permanently in the R. Tagore School in St. Petersburg. The R. Tagore exhibition will help the school students to better understand the importance of the outstanding person of India, whose name was given to the School.

The speakers noted that the R. Tagore School No.653 and the St. Petersburg Branch of the ICR have been united in cultural coordination to strengthen the friendship and cultural ties between Russia and India.
