September,13, 2017 "Krasin" Ice-breaker Museum hold the opening of the Days of India in St.Petersburg, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries and organized with the support of the Consulate General of India in St.Petersburg.
"Rabindranath Tagore – Messenger of Indian Culture" exhibition was opened in the event; the exhibition organizers are Consulate General of the Republic of India in St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs.
The gala opening ceremony of the Days of India was attended by Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma, the Consul General of India in St. Petersburg, and his wife Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mr. D. Jasundr, Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India, Moscow, Mr. V. Yagya, the Deputy of Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Mr. Eduard Tomsha, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs, and other distinguished guests. The Days of India were opened with "Rabindranath Tagore – Messenger of Indian Culture" exhibition, made by the St. Petersburg Branch of the ICR under the support of the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg. The Exhibition is devoted to life and creative work of the great artist, poet and writer - Rabindranath Tagore. Rare photos, documents, replicas of his paintings and books about his life in Russian and English are exhibited. Concert of Indian and Russian artists continued the celebration of the Days of India in St. Petersburg. The Concert included «Devdan – Bollywood Dance» ensemble, «SAMHEY» group of Denis Davydov and Nastya Sarasvati, Indian Jaz of «Manomay» group, and Anna Nalbandyants, an Mikhailov Theatre student, who sang Russian romances. After the concert, the guests were treated to Indian cuisine.
The Days of India in St. Petersburg were held on board of the “Krasin” Ice-breaker Museum from 13 till 17, September.
