07.06.2016 The Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation plans to demolish the buddhist stupa in the Roerich museum

In May 2016 a group of functionaries from the State Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), headed by the deputy director of the said Museum – Tigran Mkrtychev – declared that the Stupa of the Three Jewels is an unauthorized construction and therefore is to be demolished.

On Saturday, April 30, 2016 as a part of the spring festival celebrated in the Roerich Estate in Naggar the exhibition of the reproductions of paintings by Lyubov Talimonova «Wanderings of a Happy Soul» had its grand opening. Mr. Sergei V. Karmalito, Senior Counsellor, Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India, Mrs. Natalya Cherkashina, Acting Director, Museum named after Nicholas Roerich, Moscow, and renowned Indian scholars Prof. Suneet Chopra and Prof. Arun Mohanty were the esteemed guests of the ceremony.

28.04.2016 Robert Thurman paid visit to the International Centre of the Roerichs

On Wednesday, 20 April, the famous American scientist, writer, public figure, president and founder of the Tibet House U.S. Robert Thurman visited the non-governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich. Professor R.Thurman is the Chair Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies named after Jey Tsong Khapa at Columbia University.

20.04.2016 Gala evening dedicated to the 81th anniversary of the Roerich Pact: «Relevance of the Roerich Pact ideas in the contemporary world»

On April 15, 2016 the non-governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich of the International Centre of the Roerichs hosted the gala evening dedicated to the 81th anniversary of the Roerich Pact. The Roerich Pact, also known as Treaty on protection of artistic and scientific institutions and historic monuments, was initiated by the Great Russian artist and public figure Nicholas Roerich. This is the first-ever international treaty on the protection of cultural heritage establishing the priority of protection of cultural values over military necessity, signed by representatives of 21 states on April 15, 1935 in Washington.

22.03.2016 Exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Roerich Pact opened in the USA

On March 5 the “Banner of Peace”, designed by Nicholas Roerich, met guests of the Russian Cultural Center in the capital of the USA. The exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of signing of the Roerich Pact, the first international treaty on protection of the cultural heritage, was opened here.
