With great joy and enthusiasm Christmas was celebrated in the Himalayan Roerich Estate in Naggar. The main guests of the festivities that took place on December 25, 2017 in the IRMT were the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children, their parents, the children of the IRMT staff (and the staff themselves), as well as the young residents of Naggar.

In order to save the disappearing culture of Russia the representatives of law enforcement bodies and the Russian Government are to show themselves strong enough to hear the voice of the people and stop the excesses of the officials of the Ministry of Culture and the State Museum of Oriental Art. For there is no bright future without the culture.

“The last war among people will be a war for truth,” these words of the Great Russian artist, philosopher and thinker Nicholas Roerich proved to be prophetic.

On October 7-9, the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) celebrated the 143rd anniversary of the great Russian artist Maharshi Nicholas Roerich as part of the festival “India-Russia-the Roerichs” dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the International Roerich Memorial Trust and the 70th anniversary of Russian-Indian diplomatic relations. The guests of honour at the festival were Mr. Sergey Karmalito, Senior Counsellor, Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India, New Delhi, and Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Additional District Commissioner, Kullu.

On October, 20, 2017 in Rabindranath Tagore School in St. Petersburg, Russia the “R. Tagore – Messenger of Indian Culture” Exhibition was opened to commemorate the 60 anniversary of the school. The event was inaugurated by the Consul General of India in St.Petersburg, Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma and Mrs. Sharma, by St. Petersburg Committee on Education, St. Petersburg City Government and Kalininsky Region administration representatives, by scientists and culture public figures.

On October 2, 2017, the 148 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated around the world. On this day in the Stiglitz Academy Museum the opening of the international festival "Days of Indian Culture in the Academy of Stieglitz " was held; the festival was dedicated to the 148th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

It is known that for several years a number of state officials have been doing systematic «work» to discredit, and, in fact, to destroy the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) and its non-governmental museum named after N.K. Roerich, founded by Svyatoslav Roerich.

On September 16, 2017 in the Museum "Ice-breaker "Krasin" in St.Petersburg in the framework of the Days of India in St.Petersburg there was held a competition of children's art, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of friendship between Mumbai and St.Petersburg. The competition was held with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of India in St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs. The competition was attended by the Consul General of the Republic of India in St. Petersburg Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma and his wife Mrs. Poonam Sharma.

September,13, 2017: "Krasin" Ice-breaker Museum hold the opening of the Days of India in St.Petersburg, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries and organized with the support of the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg.

"Rabindranath Tagore – Messenger of Indian Culture" exhibition was opened in the event; the exhibition organizers are Consulate General of the Republic of India in St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Branch of the International Centre of the Roerichs.

We have seen once again that today in Russia there is no justice capable of protecting the legitimate interests of a non-governmental organization. We have seen how officials, in our case, the leadership of the Ministry of Culture, seek to take away all property belonging to a non-governmental organization (we mean the Roerichs’ Heritage) and the cultural heritage site (the Lopoukhins’ Estate, restored by the ICR without government financial support).

On August 16, 2017, the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar, conducted a festive programme on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of George Roerich, the renowned orientalist, Buddhist scholar, linguist and explorer of Central Asia, and the elder son of Nicholas and Helena Roerich. As per tradition, representatives of the Buddhist world were the chief guests of the programme.

An exhibition on the life and creative work of the great Russian artist, scholar and thinker Nicholas Roerich opened on July 29, 2017 in Shimla, the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, once the summer capital of British India.

The International Roerich Memorial Trust – the unique symbol of Russian-Indian cultural cooperation located in the hallowed Himalayan Kullu valley – has turned 25.

International Scientific and Public Conference "Culture and Civilization in the XXI Century in the Light of Nicholas Roerich’s Ideas" took place on June, 30th –July,1st in Scientific-Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg, Russia. The conference was a continuation of previous meetings of the international cultural and scientific community held in Estonia, Finland, Germany and Austria. The Conference organizers were the St. Petersburg Branch of the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) and the Scientific-Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, under the support of the International Center of the Roerichs, the German Roerich Society, the Estonian Roerich Society, the European Association “EURASIM”, the Latvian Branch of the International Center of the Roerichs, the Austrian Society of the Roerichs – the National Committee of the Roerich Pact. The Information Support of the Conference was by the Information Portal "Museums of Russia" and the Inter-regional Information-Analytical Center (IIAC).

April 30, 2017. The national flags of India and Russia, and the Banner of Peace – the world-famous Banner of Culture and the symbol of the Roerich Pact for the protection of cultural properties – were solemnly raised nearby the House-Museum of the Roerichs.

Saturday, April 29, 2017, was noteworthy in the Himalayan Roerich Estate for the opening of the festival “India – Russia – the Roerichs” dedicated to two memorable dates: the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Indian diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of the International Roerich Memorial Trust.

April 15, 2017 a ceremonial evening dedicated to eighty-second anniversary of the sighing of the Roerich pact was organized in non-governmental museum named after Nicholas Roerich.

On April 5, 2017 in Silistra, the ancient Bulgarian city on the bank of the Danube, there opened the exhibition «The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity » by the International Center of the Roerichs. The exhibition presented in the Art Gallery of Silistra (from April 2 to May 2, 2017) is held under the patronage of the Bulgarian National Commission for UNESCO.

On Sunday, April 16, festivities dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the Roerich Pact – the first international treaty for the protection of world cultural heritage – took place in the Himalayan Roerich Estate in Naggar. The main participants of the celebrations were students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the International Roerich Memorial Trust, and the artists whose exhibition opened on that gala day in the IRMT Exhibition Hall.

Open letter by the participants in the Meeting of the International community on the issue of preservation of the non-governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich and the Roerichs’ family heritage (On March 25, 2017).

The International Roerichs’ Heritage Preservation Committee expresses its strong protest against the violent and destructive actions of a number of law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the State Museum of Oriental Art, that took place on 7-8 March 2017 under false pretenses, for the purpose of seizing property – the Roerichs’ heritage – from the International non-governmental organization "International Centre of the Roerichs" (ICR) established on the initiative of the outstanding artist, scientist, philosopher and public figure, the citizen of India, Svetoslav Roerich.

We urge the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, Russian National Committee of the International Council of Museum (ICOM) and all representatives of public authorities to protect our rights pursuant to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, to prosecute those responsible for the seizure of the non-governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich of the International Centre of the Roerichs and for the violation of rights and freedoms of the staff of our non-governmental organization.

A number of recent events connected with the International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR) and its Museum named after Nicholas Roerich should receive attention of the community as they present an issue of great concern.

A week has passed since the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) was searched. About 200 exhibits were taken from the museum. The siloviki* made a real pogrom in the ICR.

On March 20, 2017 the Arbitration Court of Moscow upheld a lawsuit of the State Museum of Oriental Art supported by Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimuschestvo) claiming avoidance of the gratuitous lease contracts and eviction of the International Centre of the Roerichs from the Lopoukhins’ Estate.

Valery Shiryaev strongly disagree with the statement that the banker Bulochnik’s ‘laundering activity’ served as the only cause for searches, and he offers his perspective on the situation.

The International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR) will appeal in court against the search procedures in its Museum and the withdrawal of works of art, the vice-president of the ICR Alexander Stetsenko informed Interfax.

Now the Moscow Museum named after Nicholas Roerich works on its normal schedule. Employees decide how to rebuild the exposition as the security forces took away about 200 works of art. The vice-president of the International Centre of the Roerichs Alexander Stetsenko is sure that this intrusion was guided by the management of the Ministry of Culture. The Ministry does not give any answer.

On March 9, 2017, in the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich of the ICR held a press conference. The participants of the press conference were provided with the facts, documents and the most complete information on the conduct of the power operation on the territory of the ICR with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the State Museum of Oriental Art and Nicholas Roerich Museum (New York).

Festive programme was organized in the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, 8th March. It was attended by a number of local women and visitors from Russia, IRMT staff, and the teachers and students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Art for Children (HRAA) managed by the IRMT.

March 7, 2017 in Moscow by representatives of law enforcement agencies (About 60 persons) the Mansion of the Lopoukhins was blocked, where the international non-governmental organization, the International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR) is located, the basis of which is the Non-governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich, where the heritage of the Roerich family – outstanding representatives of world culture – has been preserved for more than 25 years.

Festivities on the occasion of the 138th anniversary of Helena Roerich in the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) started with the guided tour organized for the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the IRMT.
